I saw Yo-Yo Ma in concert

Posted on Updated on

Yes, that’s right.  I paid a lot more than I ever had for a ticket to an event.  I saw cellist, Yo-Yo Ma in concert.  The performance was in Nashville at the beautiful Schemerhorn Symphony Hall.

The performance was fantastic.  The Nashville Symphony first placed Dvorak. It was a piece that I played in college. They played it a lot better, but it was fun that I knew all the music, at least from the cello’s perspective.

After intermission, Yo-Yo Ma came out on stage.  He is an amazing performer and you can tell that he truly enjoys entertaining.  He is charismatic and seemed humble.  He received a standing ovation at the end of the performance and he treated us to the first Bach suite.

It was opening night at the symphony, so they treated us to dessert and champagne after the concert was over.

Agh! I’m so jealous! Isn’t he fabulous?! Love the photos (particularly the dessert and champagne).

Awesome! I have been twice to the symphony. Once to see Handel’s Messiah and then again to see a pianist. Both were amazing (and free! Thomas’s friend is a box seat ticket holder that likes to bless us with a visit every now and then). If you ever go again, try to go early and get a tour. Every little piece of marble has significance in the placement and design. So cool!
