At the Farm

Posted on

We spent this weekend with my father-in-law at his farm.  It is about two hours away from us and on very beautiful property.  The weekend consisted of the boys riding their bikes outside, going down to the pond with my husband, feeding grass to the ponies and getting to see my father-in-law’s new rooster and chickens.  The rooster showed up after the early March tornadoes, so he decided that the rooster was lonely so bought some chickens. I got the opportunity to read Hunger Games yesterday, watch March Madness and this morning, I finished a hat that was supposed to be for the new baby, but it is big enough to fit Liam and Nick, so I guess I get to make another hat.

Here are some pictures of our stay.

It took me like four tries to make an appropriately-sized newborn hat.

So what yarn, needles and size did you choose to make a newborn hat?

Ten days later I finally see this… Naturally Magic Garden Buttons yarn (DK weight – they carried this stuff at my yarn shop in Long Beach but it’s hard to find), size 2 and 3 DPNs, and 3 month size. It fit an 8 lb 8 oz newborn perfectly.
