Nick is Three

Posted on

Nicholas turned three yesterday and it was fun to watch his excitement throughout the day.  My husband prepared a breakfast feast of blueberry and chocolate chip pancakes, eggs and bacon.  Liam reminded us that we needed to decorate so we quickly threw up some streamers and balloons.

Nick came into the kitchen with shouts of surprise from Liam.

Nicholas wanted a chicken birthday, so I did my best to appease him.  I made him a knitted chicken hat, a bleach painted chicken shirt and a black bean chocolate cake with coconut milk frosting (in the shape of a chicken).  The colorful parts of the chicken cake where marzipan dyed with food coloring.

He enjoyed his morning celebrations, had cake for lunch and then we ventured to the sports store where my husband took him in and let him pick out his very own sleeping bag.  He was adorable when he came out of the store with it strapped to his back.

We headed to the Creative Discovery Museum and played for a few hours amongst dinosaurs and lots of water play.

Dinner was pizza and a movie watched from our new tent.  (The new tent is going to be returned for a larger one, we realized that we won’t be able to sleep comfortably in the tent but it was super awesome for the evening.)

That cake looks awesome! And I envy your talent to make that chicken hat. Great work, Momma!
